Academic & Research Activity:

· Currently full time clinician involved in collaborative research projects particularly in the field of epilepsy

· Previous training in clinical and experimental research

· With funding from the British Heart Foundation completed research projects (Royal Postgraduate Centre, London)

· Publication of a range of studies including observational studies on cerebral haemodynamics in acutely ill children using near infrared spectroscopy and methods for measuring cerebral blood flow

· Successfully completed MD thesis

· Post-graduate examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (DCH, MRCPCH)

· Previously College Tutor at Bristol Royal Hospital for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

 

Paediatric Neurology:

· Head of Department, Department of Paediatric Neurology, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children & Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, 2008 to present

· Clinical Lead for the Paediatric Epilepsy Surgery Programme in the Southwest Region of England

· Executive Committee Member of the British Paediatric Neurology Association 2010-

· Training Advisor for Paediatric Neurology in the Southwest Region of England 2007 to present

· Sabbatical Cleveland Clinic, Ohio: Epilepsy Surgery Programme 2006

· Training in Paediatric Neurology at Southampton with award of CCST in Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology in March 2000

 

Special Interests:

Epilepsy, bone health in epilepsy, epilepsy surgery evaluation, cerebral haemodynamics, clinical teaching and assessment of post-graduate doctors.
